Happy Thanksgiving, America, and God Bless!

27 November, 2008 (09:33) | Family, Holidays

Oh, my, I feel fat, and I’ve not even put a dent in all this food mom cooked.  Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, sweet potato casserole, corn pudding, lima beans, green beans, cranberry sauce (from a can, like it’s supposed to be), deviled eggs, pasta salad, veggies and dip, stuffing, bread… and GRAVY, lots and lots of [...]

Halloween 2008

31 October, 2008 (21:43) | Current Events, Family, Holidays

I took the day off work to play with the kids today.  It was loads of fun.  We’ve been having some Halloween fun off and on for the past couple of weeks, and here are a few photos to commemorate the events.

Peace, y’all.

The Dreaded Valentine’s Day

14 February, 2008 (10:55) | Holidays

While I have to post my obligatory reference to my thoughts on this day, sometimes you really do get a Valentine’s Day gift.
I’d say this is about one of the best expressions of love I’ve encountered in a long, long time. Scroll down to the entry entitled ‘The Sky Angel Cowboy’. Click to watch.
Happy Valentine’s [...]

First Post of the Year! (it’s 12:25am)
I’m happy for everything. I hope it sticks, but I’m slightly inclined to believe it has to do with the half-killed bottle of 2004 Saint-Hilaire sitting on the coffee table. Gotta celebrate the new year with some bubbly, ya know?
What are the first three things for 2008? [...]

Well, I’m back.

Just in time for the last post of the year.
Restoring a database is sometimes a bit complicated.
I liked 2007 very much. Where does time go?

Picture Perfect

29 December, 2007 (06:22) | Family, Holidays

Well, we were in Lynchburg the week before Christmas, and decided to take Emily and Madeline to see Santa. The local newspaper happened to have a photographer there at the time.
Although she liked the presents, Em hasn’t quite warmed up to the old man.
The following came out in the Christmas Day edition. The [...]

Merry Christmas!

25 December, 2007 (05:14) | Christianity, Family, Holidays

Well, now I have kids in bed for the night. We opened presents, we played outside (in the 50s here today), we watched Robots on cable and Boz the Bear’s Christmas on DVD (delightful Christian entertainment, by the way), we ate roast beast, homemade mashed potatoes and gravy (that’s right – homemade gravy), and [...]

Happy Thanksgiving!

22 November, 2007 (12:47) | Christianity, Family, Food & Drink, Holidays, Wisdom

Yes, I know.
I haven’t gotten Halloween photos of the kids up yet. I haven’t posted the fun tidbits that have happened to me this month. I haven’t told all the sordid stories of my niece’s trip to the Motherland (we’re in the South, by the way).
I’ll post a bunch of fun stuff over the course [...]

It’s those little things…

28 October, 2007 (20:12) | Family, Holidays

Well, I’m finally out from under the weight of October performance season.
I’ve worked like mad to ensure that I’ve had time with the family during all this. I so with I could have taken the time to write all the cute little things that have happened over the last six weeks.
We’ve carved a pumpkin.
We baked [...]
